GuidePoint is a Shady Business
I set up an account on GuidePoint since consulting feels like a natural skill to me. Unlike lawyers, I genuinely enjoy helping organizations and people solve specific problems.
After registering, I matched with a specific topic and soon began receiving emails from several supposed GuidePoint representatives: - Katherine Bortner - Ilana Zeilinger - Anisa Ngandee - Nikoleta Sperantsa - Armand Tshela - Evelyn Landers - Ryan Hsu - Griffin Fein
At first, everything looked legitimate. I checked Reddit and LinkedIn, and GuidePoint is a real company.
The problem arose early on. I was invited to complete a form related to my area of expertise, a questionnaire that seemed designed to help a client. It took me less than an hour to complete, and the questions were well crafted. Encouraged, I filled out a second form as a continuation of the first one. But then a third arrived, and something felt off.
I reached out to several of the people listed above on LinkedIn, replied to their emails, and even attempted to contact the company's founders directly. No one ever replied.
That silence raised all red flags. For a firm that presents itself as a bridge between experts and clients, this level of non-responsiveness suggests a lack of transparency at best or something more dubious at worst. They are looking for cheap work. It's like Amazon's Mechanical Turk disguised as serious consulting.
I wasn’t expecting to start the sand clock very early on, but I didn’t expect it to stay empty either.
